Commitment to Accessibility
General Fittings is committed to making its website as accessible and usable as possible for everyone, including people with disabilities. This page outlines the current accessibility status of the website and explains how to contact us for feedback or support requests.
Reference Standards
As a voluntary objective, General Fittings adopts the WCAG 2.2 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) as its reference standard, targeting Level AA, in line with technical constraints and the ongoing evolution of the website.
Accessibility Status
Based on the assessments carried out, the website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA for the aspects and templates that were reviewed. Overall, many pages are accessible; however, some issues remain that may make navigation more challenging, particularly in specific usage scenarios (such as keyboard navigation and screen readers) and in relation to document accessibility.
Content or Features with Known Limitations
The main areas for improvement identified include:
- PDF documents and viewing methods
Some published PDFs may not be fully accessible (e.g. structure/tagging, language/metadata, reading order). In addition, in certain sections, viewing PDFs via modal viewers may be difficult to use with a keyboard. Upon user request, General Fittings undertakes to provide the information contained in these documents in an accessible format or to offer assistance with their consultation. - Interface components (keyboard) and carousel/slider contentr
Although measures have been implemented to support keyboard navigation and assistive technologies, carousel/slider components remain complex elements and may be less intuitive for some users, particularly in specific contexts. - Semantic structure (headings and lists)
On some pages, the hierarchy of headings and/or the semantic structure of the content may not always be optimal, which can affect quick navigation using assistive technologies. - Messages announced to assistive technologies
In some dynamic interactions (e.g. filters and results updates), status messages announced to screen readers may not always be clear or consistent.
Improvement Plan
We are planning progressive improvements, with priorities focused on user impact:
- High priority: status messages and accessibility and usability of PDF documents and their related viewers; robustness of carousel/slider components on mobile, with zoom, and when navigating via keyboard.
- Medium priority: improvements to semantic structure (headings, lists) and to the accessible names of links and CTAs.
- Low priority: optimizations and enhancements to overall consistency and robustness (reducing “noise” for assistive technologies, refining markup and attributes).
